Your task this week is to find out information about a dinosaur of your choice. You must gather information that you can include in your report, such as:

- what they looked like

unusual facts

The Tyrannosaurus Rex lived 70 million years ago. They lived in open woodland in North America.
ReplyDeleteThey ate plant-eating dinosaurs. While the dinosaurs stood feeding peacefully,it got close as it could before making a pounce on it's prey. They usually didn't eat every day. If it killed a large plant-eater it wouldn't eat for the next few days.
They were strong and had a big head , big teeth and big legs.It had a tail to help it balance the weight.It had a good eyesight for spotting it's prey.
spinosaurs lived about 112 to 97 years ago. They lived in North Africa and Albian. Fish was their favorite food.

I chose to write about Apatosaurus.

The stegosaurus lives in North America. The stegosaurus length is 8.5 m. Its weight is 5,000 kg. The stegosaurus was found 150 years ago. The stegosaurus eat ferns and cycads. They are herbivorous. It has 17 broads bony plates from neck to down its back and its tail bearing four long spikes.
My choice was the almighty Tyrannosaurus. It weighs form 9.3 tons to 14 metric tons; That is almost as heavy as a little ship! The Tyrannosaurus lived 66 to 68 millions of yers ago. We know that T-rexes were carnivorous, but we did not know how he ets.They were 3 metres tall, and 13 metres long and they had feathers and were dark brown. Some people say that T-Rexes are cannibal, others say they were scavengers. They are also faster than us running becoause theyh go 5 milesh per our.

Where they lived?
The fossils of this dinosaur were found at several sites in North America, Tanzania, Algeria and Portugal. This means the dinosaur must have lived in all these places.
When they lived?
The huge, gentle and harmless dinosaur lived 155-150 million years ago. This was late Jurassic.
What they ate?
This kind of dinosaur does not eat meat. It eats plants, of any kind. Some are on trees and some are on the floor and they can be of many colours. This dinosaur is an herbivore. It also eats flowers and fruit.
What they look like?
The dinosaur was as tall as 2 double-decker buses on top of each other, 3 and a quarter buses long and it had a neck a bit longer than a giraffe. Its gigantic face was the size of having two human faces together. It has red evil, creepy looking eyes, and it has chisel-shaped teeth.
Any interesting or unusual facts?
The body is very muscly and it was an extremely ginormous creature. Its weight was about 40 tons (40,000kg). Brachiosaurs means an armed lizard. It is an altithorax species. It had sharp claws. You pronounce their name Brack-ee-ow-sor-us. Its length was about 26 metres (85 feet).

They are one of the cleverest dinosaurs on the basis of brain size compared body size. It has a large size Brian for its body size,so this was so clever dinosaur both of skull and jaw has an opening to make it lighter - this would have helped the dinosaur to be more aglie.

What they ate? it was a Herbivore plant eater...nice dinosaur.
What they look like? it looked like a small triceratops with a horn ...quite scary but harmless
Any interesting or unusual facts? Zuniceratops has two large horns and a small one on its nose, it was the same size as a cow and the first fossil found in new mexico.

It lived in the late Jurassic Period, 150.8 million to 155.7 million years ago.
Where did the Stegosaurus live?
The Stegosaurus primarily lived in the western North America. But it was also found in Africa, China, Mongolia and Europe.
What did the Stegosaurus eat?
The Stegosaurus was a herbivore, so it ate plants. It also ate weeds, flower and fallen leaves.
What did it look like?
A Stegosaurus was huge with its 2 rows of bony plates making it look even bigger. It walked on all four legs, so it is a quadrupedal. It had a tail with 2 spikes on each side to defend itself. It had a head so small it was the size of an apple.
Unusual facts
• Did you know that a Stegosaurus had a head so small that people thought its brain was the size of a walnut (which is true).
• Tyrannosaurus rex would back away from a Stegosaurus because if it was hit by the spiky tail and it fell it won’t be able to get up.
• I also found out that ‘stegosaurus’ is derived from Greek words ‘stegos’ means roof and ‘saurus’ means lizard.

ReplyDeleteThe T-rex lived in the forested river valleys in North America. It became extinct about 65 million years ago. They were one of the largest meat eating dinosaurs that ever lived. The T-rex is the king of the dinosaurs.
Its name means the Tyrant lizard. It had a thick, heavy skull and a 4 feet long jaw which was designed for a bone crushing action. They weighed about 5 tonnes.They were about 40 feet long; 15 to 20 feet tall. Its tail helped the T-rex to balance while walking.
This powerful predator could eat up to 500 pounds of meat in one bite. It could eat smaller dinosaurs in a single bite. It had a life span of about 30 years.
My favourite dinosaur is a tyrannosaurus.

The diet was mostly meat. They ate other dinosaurs, with their sharp teeth.
It had 60 teeth, and a 1.5m head and weighed 7000kgs like 7 cars together, it was 12m tall the size of 2 houses. The dinosaur was strong . It had a long tail and a frightful face, with tiny arms.
Close relatives of Tyrannosaurus sometimes lived together because there are fossils of groups who were buried together. But we are not sure if they hunted together.

My choice is dinosaur Coelophysis. Coelophysis ate meat , small inseets and small reptiles.

Thay had sharp teath also they had small head and very sharp clauss.
Coelophysis lived on the ground.

ReplyDeleteThey lived in the Jurassic period 205-135 million years ago.
They lived in dense forest in humid, tropical heat.
They ate eggs, worms, insects and Lizards. Some ate fish. It probably had a pouch for carrying fish, like pelicans do today. It had a beak with no teeth.
Pteranodons could fly. This pterosaur had huge wings with fingers on. They had wings made of skin, like a bats wing. It did not flap its wings all the time, instead it glided. Each wing was about as long as two people lying end to end.
It had a long bony crest on its head. It was a thin bone and it was very light. Its bones were light and hollow.This helped it to fly. It had a short, stumpy tail.

Dinosaurs lived on our planet between 231 million years ago and 65 million years ago. This period is called the ‘Mesozoic era’ which is further divided into three more periods, namely starting from ‘The Triassic Period’, ‘The Jurassic Period’ and ‘The Cretaceous Period’.
The cretaceous period was the last period when the dinosaurs walked on our planet.
2. Where they lived:
Dinosaurs lived almost everywhere on our planet example they lived in Europe, in Asia, in Africa, in North and South America even in Artic and Antartica region.
3. What they ate:
Some dinosuars ate only plants and grass. Some of them ate only meat, these dinosaurs killed other dinosuars and other animals to eat their meat and sometimes even ate dead animals. Some dinosaurs ate both plants and meat as well.
4. What they looked like:
Dinosaurs looked like some of the animals we can see on our planet now such as
- Crocodiles
- Snakes
- Lizards
- Ostrich

- The word ‘Dinosuar’ is a Greek word meaning ‘Terrible big Lizard’
- Dinosaurs lived up 70 to 300 years
- Majority of dinosaurs were plant eaters
- Dinosaurs swallowed rocks which stayed in their belly to grind the food to help digest food.
- Dinosaur’s eggs were just to the size of a Basket ball.
- Dinosuar’s brain was as small as a wallnut.

They are carnivores and eat Edmontosaurus,Anatosaurus,and Triceratops, and probably could have swallowed smaller dinosaurs in a single bite.
They have very sharp teeth and extremely scaly skin.
