Blogging homework due Friday, 20th January

We hope that you have really enjoyed Maths Week this week. As we have experienced lots of different activities this week, we would like you to write a short review (a paragraph) of Maths week.

You need to think about:

  • What did you enjoy?
  • What could have been better?
  • Do you have any new ideas we could include next year?
Topics you could talk about are:
  • Your pirate themed Maths lessons
  • Your visit around the Maths Trail
  • When Year 5 came to teach you
  • Our 'Maths Around the World' and 'Zap' games
  • The Maths games we played in ICT
I look forward to reading your reviews!

I realy liked the maths games;zap and maths around the world. I think that the bit that could had been beter was when we played the maths games because it was hard to understand in addition some games didn,t have much maths inclooded in them. Some addvice for the future; make the maths games fun but easyer to understand and with a bit more maths in it, make the maths pirate themed activety a bit easyer so it is easyer to make the nets, or maybey make the pirte maps easyer.

I liked it when the year fives came and taught us about capacity. We used marbles to fill in a cup which was full of water. We estimated how many big marbles would fill the cup and the answer was 20.I had the closest estimate because I voted 19 and everybody else in my
group voted under 16.The idea that I thought could be better was that why can't the year 3 teach year 1 or 2.

  3. What I enjoyed in Maths Week was when we played Maths games in ICT. I also liked when the year 5 came in. I really liked the Maths trail and Szymon,Mahdi, Yagmur and Hadya were in my group. When the Year 5 came to teach us they gave us some worksheets to do. We even made some boats and guessed how many blocks it will take until the boat will sink. By Arjun.

  4. I liked the ICT games the most because in maths week challenge it was really fun. There was one game in which you had to estimate on a number line like where is 0.3 or 0.7 before the timer runs out. You had to think really fast. What made it challenging is that we had only 5 seconds till timer runs out! I also liked the Maths Trail because it was a lot of fun to move around different stations and answer different questions. It was a very engaging game.

I would like to put forward a suggestion that who ever wins the challenge in first place should get a prize!

I liked the part when we made a shape ship for pirate Pete because the ship shapes' were are creation. I disliked that we didn't have enough time to finish our shape ships' for pirate Pete. I think next math week we could try to get some more time for our math games' at ICT.

  6. In maths week I enjoyed going to ICT and did live mathletics. My favourite part of maths week was when we got taught by year fives because we were seeing if the tissue paper, card or paper boat was going to hold the most cubes. The tissue paper boat held the most cubes because when we put it in the water,it went flat so there was lots of space on it. It was great when we went on the maths trail even though we didn't finish the first one because we had to find out which shape goes where on the grid by looking at the clues. The most most hardest thing in maths week was when we had to draw a pirate ship out of shapes and build it but it was quite fun at the same time. Altogether, maths week was very exciting.

When we had math week I really liked the part when pirate Pete's ship sank and we had to construct 3D shapes to rebuilt the ship. Further, I really enjoyed when we had to do the map to get to the treasure.
What could have been improved it would more accurate instruction in helping us make the 3d shapes. It was too hard to understand how to do it in the beginning by ourselves.
Math around the world and Zap were outstanding because of the wonderful math questions.I intend to play that at home, however I hope I might get chosen for the next zap game we play in the classroom. The part that I like best on ICT is that I can choose challenges between me and my friends.
Older pupils should have more patience with younger children and they should be more gentle.

  9. Maths Week

During maths week the activity I enjoyed the most was when we played some games in ICT for e.g.: Meg and Peg games like going shopping, making a cake, having a car race, bubble bath and making pizzas. My second favourite activity was our magical maths games like maths around the world and zap. Zap is my favourite game. After that I enjoyed our visit around the maths trail. In my group there was Cezar, Anish and some other people. I also liked it when me and my perfect partner did the pirate themed lesson. The last thing I liked was when the year fives taught us about how many blocks can go on a cardboard boat. Guess how many blocks can go on a cardboard boat? 206!!!! It was fun.
What would have been better? I think if it wasn’t raining it would have been better because we were excited to go outside for our maths trail.
For Next Years’ Maths Week, I think we should do a Maths related Treasure Hunt! I have many ideas, please contact me for more details.

  10. Maths week

In Maths week, I really enjoyed when we went to ICT when we played the maths games and mathletics and I loved when the year 5s taught us. I liked the maths trial too, but we only did 3 of them. I think when we made our pirate ships, we could have coloured the 3d shapes in. I think in next year in 2018, we could use Abacuses and play with CHOCOLATE COINS. By Ruhan.

  11. Maths week review.I really enjoyed taking part in the maths trail answering questions and using maps and I enjoyed working with my friends.
I enjoyed the ICT games mathletics is my favourite,
I learnt how to make boats from different materials like paper, cardboard and tissue paper which was really tricky.Maybe next time we could do some fun maths baking,a bake off at the end of school to sell to parents, and prizes for everyone that too part in maths week.

  12. I enjoyed ‘Maths around the world’ and ‘Zap, because they were challenging and we tried our best. I enjoyed maths games because, we did them in ICT because they fun but hard. In the pirate themed lesson we made a pirate ship. I enjoyed it because we did ship making. The thing I mostly enjoyed was Simon because it was hard to remember!

  13. The thing I most enjoyed about maths week is, when the year five class taught us how to make a boat. I also enjoyed seeing how many cubes where needed to sink the boat I thought this was a very interesting and fun activity.

I think, that this activity would have been better if the year 5 and 6 together could come to Big Ben class to teach us using the pictures.
For next years activities we could go to the year 2 class and teach them something that we have learnt in our class and play some games with them.

  14. I really enjoyed the maths trail. My favorite bit was when we did the weight of the present challenge .I came up with the idea to use the weigher. I also enjoyed the year 5 teach lesson. It was so much fun!The things i think could be better is that we could have more time on a maths trail.Farther more we should show more respect and listening on things like maths trail, because it on one activity only 3 people listened to me.I wanted to explain to my group what we could do.In the next year for the maths trail more could be out side.

During the maths week, the moment I adored the most was the time when the year 5 came to teach us about the length.I enjoyed when we went to ICT and played Maths games.I liked the game which is called Peg& Cat.That game is about the shopping money. There are three people who asked Peg to buy things. When Peg bought the things ,she counted the money to use.I liked the game because I have to count the money.I think that would be better if there will be more fun games and activities in the next year.

  16. Maths week was fun and I most enjoy when year 5 came to teach us in class. I enjoyed when we put the blocks in the boat because it was fun but I think that it would be better if the year 5 students helped us more because it was a bit hard for us. Next year, we can have different ideas like having a measuring tape to measure bigger items like stuff in class as the cupboard, the white board, the length of the class and many different things.

  17. In Maths Week, the thing I enjoyed the most when the year 5's came to teach us about boats. I also loved it when we were putting the cubes in the boats and one of the boats took 150 cubes! I also learned that tissue boats are as strong as a cardboard boat.
Another thing I enjoyed was the Maths Trail as it was very fun and interesting.

  19. Maths week review!
Maths week was great my favorite bit was when we went to the ICT and played maths games.I challenged my best friend Anish to a contest in maths we don't know who won because it was time to go and i had to off the computer.I really liked the pirate theme because i thought we had to make a pirate ship out of paper or card but we made it out of 3D paper shapes.I liked it when we went to year 5 classes and the year 5's teached us me and my partner Ruhan got all of the questions right. The only thing i thought that could get better in the future math weeks is that they could've given us harder questions!
