  1. When did dinosaurs live?
Dinosaurs lived between 230 and 65 million years ago,in a time known as the Mesozoic Era. This was many millions of years before the first modern humans ,Homo sapiens, appeared.

    What are dinosaurs?
Dinosaurs are a group of reptiles that dominated the land for over 160 million years. They evolved diverse shapes sizes, from the fearsome giant spinosaurus to the Turky-sized Microraptor ,able to survive in a variety of ecosystemes.

  2. Triceratops
These amezing creatures are one of the famouse dinos in the world. This large ceratopsia, or horned dinosour, lived up until the very end
of the dinosour age around 65 million ago.Like other horned dinos,
Triceratops had a large ridge that ran around the back of its skull
the use for the ridge is still dobated today. Meny believe that it may have been used to make the animal look larger and more dangorous, or that pherhaps it was used to anchor powerful jaw
    musceles.

  4. Triceratops
The name Triceratops, means a three horned face.

A Triceratops looked like a Rhinoceros except it had three horns. Two horns were above it's eyes and one horn on it's nose. A Triceratops was 9 meters tall, weighed 5 tones and had short legs. It had a powerful jaw with a parrot beak and a large frill around its neck.

The Triceratops lived 68-65 million years ago in Upland Forests of North America. It lived among some of the vicious meat eating dinosaurs. This period is also called as Cretaceous period.

Triceratops was a herbivorous dinosaur. It loved eating plant leaves
and fern. It could easily chew on thorny plants using its parrot beak.

    Interesting Facts

    1. Triceratops use their horns for defence.
    2. Triceratops used colours on their frill to scare other dinosaurs.
    3. Triceratops sometimes fight other Triceratops by locking their horns together.
    4. Triceratops had a walnut sized brain.

  5. Allosaurus The noxious dinosaur!

Allosauruses were first described by Othniel Marsh in 1877 and became one of the first well known dinosaurs. The word “Allosaurus” means different lizard.

    Where did Allosauruses live?

They lived on the land that now makes up the Morrison Formation, USA and Portugal.

Which period did Allosauruses live in?

Allosauruses lived around 150 million years ago in the late Jurassic Period.

    What do Allosauruses eat?

Allosaurus were carnivores and were likely to have hunted Stegosaurus, and Iguanodonts such as Camptosaurus. Young baby Allosaurus might have eaten insects like dragonflies and centipedes, and other small animals. When about two years old, it might have eaten small dinosaurs (Othnielia, Dryosaurs and so on).

    What did Allosauruses look like?

Allosauruses had indelible and deep scars all over their back, their fiendish eye lids were deadly red like a pool of blood, their heinous claws were sharp and life threatening and their pliable tail was certainly swift and death dealing and had sharp teeth that had edges like saws.

    Interesting facts about Allosauruses:

Allosauruses had a large skull and walked on two legs.

Their body and head were balanced by a long and heavy tail.

Like the Tyrannosaurs rex(T-rex), the Allosauruses had short arms.

They had three fingers that were each tipped with sharp, curved claws.

The average length of an Allosaurus was around 8.5 metres (28 feet) and it weighed around 2.3 tons.

In 1991 a 95% complete skeleton of an Allosaurus was found in Wyoming, United States, nicknamed ‘Big Al’, the Allosaurus skeleton (along with a further skeleton nicknamed ‘Big Al Two’) greatly helped scientists further the study of Allosaurus.

The Allosaurus is a popular dinosaur that has featured in many books, documentaries and films, including Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1912 book ‘The Lost World’ and the BBC television series called ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’.

  6. T-Rex

He lived about 65-70 million years ago in Asia and North America but scientists found a hip bone that belonged to a T-Rex. Tyrannosaurus rex were meat eaters. He ate herbivorous dinosaur but also he ate little predators .It had powerful jaws with huge teeth which he used to kill his victims. T-Rex had tiny arms and powerful back legs. It had a flexible neck which he used to attack for different position. His tail helped him to balance. T-Rex used his brain to hunt down other dinosaurs. He had 60 teeth and every one of them had 20 cm. His bite was 3 times stronger than a lion. For such a big dinosaur it run really fast. Its speed was 20 mph . The T-Rex was one of the biggest meat eaters.

  7. terrifying T-Rex

A T-Rex's first fossil were some teeth and they were discovered in 1874. T-Rex means" tyrant lizard king". They lived 65 to 70 million years ago-in the late cretaceous period. It was 12 meters tall(40 feet)in length and weighed 5 tones! T-Rex had 8 inch long and sharp teeth as sharp as knife !T-Rex had a bigger brain than other dinosaurs that would have helped it to hunt with good vision and smell. One of the unsolved mystery of Tyrannosaurus is how he used its titchy tiny arms that didn't even get to its mouth!!! This mighty creature had an extremely flexible neck which help them adjust the angle of attack.

  8. The dinosaur I have chosen is called a Tyrannosaurus. Here are some interesting facts about it:

The Tyrannosaurus ate meat and that means they are carnivores.

They had a pointy tail and sharp teeth to defend themselves.

The Tyrannosaurus’s jaw had 60 teeth, his teeth also helps it fight predators.

The Tyrannosaurus lived 67 million years ago.

    He lived in Canada USA.

The tyrannosaurus‘s skull was over 1.5m (5 feet) long and the cavity that housed the part of the brain responsible for smell was relatively large.
The tyrannosaurus had sharp claws and it had yellow eyes. It had a very long tail and also the tyrannosaurus is one of the most largest dinosaurs in the world. It’s also about 40 feet (12 meters) long and about 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6 meters) tall.

.The Giganotosaurus was the same size as a spinosaurus.
.The Giganotosaurus roamed around south America.
.The Giganotosaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs.

    2. They lived in the early Cretaceous period.
3.Their length was up to 12 meters(39 feet)
    4.They weighed 3.5 tons(about as much as a van)
    5.The Iguanadon means'Iguana-Tooth'
6.The Iguanadon was first discovered in 1822 by English geologist Gideon Mattel.

  11. The Tyrannosaurus-rex live in areas of western North America in Canada,Wyoming,Utah and Montana. It lived in the late cretaceous (67-65 million years ago). These terrifying dinosaurs are carnivorous and ate other animals. This ginormous creature is 12 meters in length and wieghs 7000Kg. It was larger than a house and has short arms. Suprisingly,it is not the biggest dinosaur in history and spinnosaurs and other dinosaurs seem to be bigger than this truculent creature.

  13. Velociraptor

This dinosaurus is maybe one of the most famous dinosaurs that has ever lived.
It achieved this fame because of a movie titled "Jurassic Park." In this movie, Velociraptor's size was bigger to make it seem more scary.
Velociraptor's tail was made of hard, fused bones that made it very inflexible. His tail wasn t useful as a weapon, but very important in keeping the animal balanced as it hunted, ran and jumped.

    Where did they live?
They lived in Mongolia and China.
The first dinosaur skeleton was found in the Gobi Desert.
They lived approximately 80 to 84 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. The Cretaceous was a period with a warm climate, resulting in high sea levels that created numerous inland seas.

    What did they ate?
They were carnivores or meat eaters. They would have eaten leftover carcasses killed by larger dinosaurs. Working as a pack they could attack much larger dinos such as Protoceratops.

    What they looked like?
These smart dinos had a large brain that helped them be very agile. They could also hunt together in packs! Working together they were fearsome predators. It would have been almost impossible to escape from their attack.
Velociraptors had very powerful back legs with long claws that could rip into their prey. These claws were lifted back when they were running.
They would have used their shorter front legs for gripping prey. They had three fingers, unlike this unusual one fingered dinosaur. They had huge claws on their back legs
They had lots of sharp pointed teeth.

    How big were they?
They were 1.8 metres in length and weighed 15-25kg. Although they were small, they were very fast and agile.

    Any interesting or unusual facts:

The meaning of its name is 'quick plunderer'. This name is from the Latin words velox meaning 'swift'or quick and raptor meaning'robber' or 'plunderer'
It was a wild animal with scavenging behavior.
There is now more evidence that Velociraptor was a feathered dinosaur. New fossils found in China show that it had feathered quill knobs. This does not mean that this dinosaur could fly. The feathers may have been used for warmth, or for display.
The most famous skeleton is part of the famous "Fighting Dinosaurs" discovered by a Polish-Mongolian team in 1971. This fossil shows a single Velociraptor in the midst of battle against a lone Protoceratops. This specimen is considered a national treasure of Mongolia, although in 2000 it was borrowed to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City for a exhibition.
