Literacy homework due Thursday 12th October
For homework this week, I would like you to post six super sentences containing suspense.
When writing your sentences, remember to include the following techniques used in class:
- Short sentences to build up tension
- Ellipsis (…) to create the ‘what happens next?’ moment
- SHOW how the character felt (His heart pounded, sweat poured from his face.)
- Similes
- Dramatic sentence starters (At that moment.....)
- Use the senses to describe, particularly SOUNDS!
You may use the following short openers as a starting point:
- Dougal spotted
- Dougal was sleeping
- In the distance…
- Dougal turned around…
- Dougal opened the door
- Cautiously, Dougal crept inside
Alternatively, you may wish to create suspense sentences about a completely different adventure! I'm already looking forward to reading your work.
Jake was at the museum alone, he heard a scary, squeaky noise.
ReplyDeleteA colossal foot was stood next to Jake, he felt nervous and sweat slithered down his face.
“Fe fi fo fum I smell the blood of an English man”, Jake looked behind him and saw a horrible giant.
Feeling as small as an ant, Jake ran, his stride seemed so small compared to the steps of the furious giant.
Distressed Jake bolted out of the door like a cheetah because he had the courage not to die, knowing the giant would kill him.
Jake sprinted far away, the giant sniffed but couldn’t get a scent so he was gone and safe for now...

Dougal spotted a shadow on the ceiling and he was scared,with his heart pounding...

so he put his head under his pillow.
In the distance he saw a figure with red eyes and he slowly walked towards it.
Dougal turned around and saw a golden pot wich made him very happy.
Dougal opened thedoor and saw the sunset.
Cautiously, Dougal crept inside to see if the floor was shaking because he heard a noise and he was fritened....

I turned around as fast as a spinning top…and saw a monster!
Suddenly in front of me the taps came on.

DOUGAL'S DAY OUT IN THE FOREST
ReplyDelete1.Dougal and his school friends after long hours of hiking in the forest were tired and sweat was pouring out from his face and body, they came across a small river. There they all washed their faces and halted to take some rest.
2.Soon Dougal and his friend fell asleep. Dougal was sleeping when he suddenly jumped out from his sleep and his heart pounded when he heard loud cry a‘grrrrrowlll….’
3.Dougal turned around and ..what he saw frightened him and his legs started shivering. Dougal shouted ‘Wake up.. everybody..see who’s here’!!.
4.They were all scared and shivering in fear to see a Grizzly bear at a few distance away and was heading towards them.They all looked at each other and said together ‘rrrruuunnnn’.
5.They all ran fast as they could till they reached a small broken house covered with creepers all around.
6.They all crawled into the house through a broken wall. As they got inside the broken house they were all more terrified and cried for help when all the bats and other birds started flying all round the house.
7.They all got out of the house and again ran as fast as they could.
8.Finally Dougal and his friends found another group of adults hiking in the same forest, who took them to their town safely.
First gorge was going out and then it was night but it was the middle of the morning. A storm was coming this way. gorge struggled to go to home but he was blown away.
ReplyDeletethen he went inside a pyramid next he hid behind a big bully bolder after that he knew that a creature was inside.
at that moment then he saw a flicker of a red lava eye .
He shivered and shuddered he got goose bumps on all over his body he was so scared like a scary cat from a big gigantic shark he was shivering like a drum.
The creature was going all around him he saw the creatures tail on its tail it got so many sharp pins he waited and waited he was so mad that his brain was trying to explode so he went through the door before the creature got any closer so he opened the rusty, dusty, creepy and dark door.
He went like a thunder bolt in the night next he jumped over a big wall the creature did not follow him but the creature growled is he safe or not.
