Stories of mystery and suspense!
Have a look at the settings above and imagine you are there. Write the introduction to a mystery story, using between 50 and 100 words. Think about describing the SENSES in your opening. What could you see, hear, smell? What did you touch and how did you feel?

I was walking across the cold,rainy and weird weather. Then I climbed a pyramid when suddenly I slipped down the pyramid in to a strange path. I could smell weird things.I could see graffiti on the walls. I could hear scary things. I touched the graffiti.I felt scared and petrified.

When I entered in the great pyramid in Giza , I saw the pyramid was made of rocks and sand. I can see on the top there was a human body statue. When I went inside the pyramid it was very dark. When I went more further it was very quiet. As I was walking my steps were sounding very louder. When I clapped it made an echo sound. As I was walking I felt very scared. Suddenly I saw a golden coffin. I was extremely scared but when I touched the coffin it was made of stone. The walls were painted with a human body and a head of jackal. I could see some furniture as well as games in tomb. I enjoyed my visit to pyramid in Giza.
I was in Egypt and there stood in the moon light I saw a scary pyramid .It smelt like someone had just died. Suddenly right in front of me, stood a giant sphynx which looked like a human lion. I felt scared because it might come alive. I fell into the creepy pyramid and saw broken bricks. I could hear a beetle scuttling across the floor. I didn’t want to touch anything because something might happen. I tiptoed closer to the golden tomb. I heard whispers coming from the tomb. I lowered my ear to the coffin to hear the whispers better. I felt the coldness of the coffin on my tiny ear. With my ear on the coffin I waited for the next whisper then all of a sudden came a large BANG! It came from the coffin then I quickly ran as fast as I could. As soon as I got out the whole place came down with a smash!

ReplyDeleteMy eyes are shaking my mouth is shivering and my tummy is rumbiling. I feel something coming up my brain. my hand is hurting meanwhile my head is diving into cold water and it's turning into ice.I get out and I walk to the wall while the Ancient Egyptions mind there own businesess.

ReplyDeleteA volcano erupted many years ago, the lava turned into rock and the local builders came to shape it. They built and made the inside, it was shaped in to a 3D Pyramid. It was huge.
One late evening in Egypt, I had just visited that Pyramid and the Sphinx. On the pyramid wall there was a hidden block which you could press to open the door.
The pyramid had a passage way before the next room. Our goal was to get to the treasure hidden in the secret room.
I’m called Jake and I have a partner, Samuel. We are treasure hunters. Following a long lost map, we entered, and it was dark and gloomy inside. Luckily, we brought big lamps knowing it would be very dark. I felt a bit scared, the room was dirty and the air was stale.
We then stepped on a floor made of blocks. The blocks were big, so we both stepped on to one. I then stepped on the block to the left and Samuel went to the right.
“Oops” said Samuel. He stepped on the wrong step. I shouted “duck” because I saw part of the wall move so I warned him before the arrows got ready to fire. There were booby traps!
I then asked Samuel to go back to our starting block and to follow my steps. The left side was the safe side. We safely reached the other side and went through.
The secret room was a burial chamber. It smelled very nice and I could hear clinking. I looked around and noticed there was treasure everywhere with some black beetles walking all over. There was also a smell of myrrh as we walked around and a golden tomb with lots of different jewels. The door shut, Samuel quickly opened the lid of the tomb and inside was a mummy and I was amazed of all the jewels.
I looked at my watch and a long time had passed. Soon it would be daylight and we needed to leave. The map showed a small cross so we looked on the walls as it could be for our way out.
I felt a slimy block so pushed it. Amazingly with a rumble and shake a small hidden panel moved. We decided to crawl through shining our lamps. There was some light and we followed it a little way. Broken stones and sand had to be moved before we were out.
I was exploring when suddenly a creepy walking mummy came up to me and pushed me in a hole. CRACK! I broke my finger I nearly shouted out loud. I knew I was in trouble as I heard a mummy groaning. I was very scared. I climbed out of the hole,I knew I was lost so I climbed up a pyramid to find my way back.
ReplyDeleteIt is hot and the scorching sun is blinding me. I go into the tomb and it is pitch black and cool. I feel a bit scared. I touch a smooth long shape that feels like a sarcophagus.

I can feel the faint sound of creatures scuttling along the floor. I sense there are hundreds of beetles crawling around me on the cold featureless floor.
I was exploring the spooky place.Then a mummy came out and scared me.I was surprised!Next I was runing and then I fel in a deep deep hole.Then I saw the big sphinx.

DeleteI was in a very strong sandstorm, and a tornado like weather. I was alone in the gloomy dark, sand was getting into my eyes and I couldn't see very well. I really did not like it. I went into the 3D pyramid where I found a dead body in a blue and golden dusty grave.... Suddenly I saw a mummy. I ran away. In my brain, I could feel my blood spilling everywhere. I had to sleep under the moon and stars.
As the night rose I entered the spooky and creepy pyramid. When I came in and I saw Darkness. Then all of a sudden I found a torch. As I entered forward and forward then I saw a maze. First I went to the left and then I smelled some disgusting fish. Next I saw a poor little child , his name was Alex. Then I asked" Whats with the fish?" I whispered , Alex replied "I have a pond here , and I eat fish " said Alex." Alex, I headed that there's secret treasure ,let's go and find it". So as the we gone onwards after we saw a statue of a sphinx .I touched it and then I saw little crack. I touched the crack. The statue fall in million pieces. Then me and Alex saw the treasures !Then out of know where I saw a mummies, we took the treasure and ran away .
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark full moon night. I was standing in front of the wet dark pyramids. I could hear bats flying around me. All I could touch was the rocks. The statues looked as if they would come to life. The surroundings smelled of wet sand and chemicals. It was very dark in the corners and it looked very, very spooky. The whole place was a mystery.
ReplyDeleteI woke up and I found myself in Egypt. I looked around and there was no one apart a golden mummy's tomb.How did I get over here. Suddenly the golden tomb was opening and a mummy was coming out it smellt really bad like old socks and was making a scary noise like crying.
ReplyDeleteI was in the spooky pyramid, suddenly I saw a Mummy. I was terifed when I saw the Mummy but the Mummy was nice Mummy. He helped me go back home from pyramid.On the way back home I asked the Mummy " Why you dressed bandage?" . I was thinking bandage helped to keep his skin safe and not dusty. Mummy said : " My familly inhuned me and used special embalming substance named butumen and then covered by bandage" . It was nice to meet a Mummy .
ReplyDeleteI was right in front of a pyramid and my friends were with me, so we decided to go inside. When we were in,it was bright which I wasn't expecting.We found lots of dusty game tombs,next we picked them up and then I blew the dirt away.I put them on the table and we started to play. Soon, it was time to go.I really enjoyed our visit to the pyramid.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark night.The moon was shining bright like the sun.I saw a pyramid far away so I kept on waking until I got there.I went inside.There was writing on the wall.Also I saw lots of treasures inside near the wall.As I carried on waking I saw another door so I went inside.When I got there I saw pictures and more writing on the wall.The pictures were of the Egyptians gods.There were lots of gods that they painted. In front of the pictures was a coffin.When I opened it I smelled something very yucky.There was a mummy inside with other objects.When I touched an object (a golden cup) the ground began to shake. It was as if the ceiling was going to collapse. It did. But I managed to escape.

ReplyDeleteEgypt.It was night and the full moon shone in the sky.Seeing the pyramid I went to the middle.There was quiet and very scary.On the walls I saw interestings drawings and the gold mummy lay on the table.
Did you know that ancient Egypt had pyraglifics there's a huge pyramid in Ancient Egypt the moon shines in Egypt there is a mummy on the floor and Ancient writing and on the wall it was creepy in the other room there was straight walls some of the bricks were broken
ReplyDeleteIt was dark. In the middle of the night I was walking, in Egypt. I was all alone. I had no torch, so I had to stick with the moonlight.Just then, I saw something in the darkness. As I came closer it shined more and more.It was a pyramid!I wanted to see inside the pyramid so, I went in. As I went in I started to get chills on my arms. After some time I saw a lever. I went to the lever and pulled it.Suddenly the sealing started to crumble. I knew I was in trouble.I ran as fast as I could. Luckily, I escaped.I was tired,dehydrated and needed to sleep but had to move on. I walked and walked but there was no exit. A little while later I found a room with a mummy case inside. I wondered if there was an exit in the room. There still were no exits in the room. I took some photos of the mummy case to send to a person who wants to learn more history about Egypt.

I am in Egypt and it is very hot and I am sweating. It was very dark with only the full moon providing light. As I entered there was a strong damp smell. While I was walking towards the door I wondered what was on the other side. As I walked in I saw the pharaoh tomb. It was golden and shiny. Being on my own I felt scared, and left.
ReplyDeleteOne day I went to the Natural History Museum. There I saw old things from India, Rome, China and Egypt. There I went in the Egypt room where I saw old fossils and statues of Pharoahs. I went a bit more further, then I saw a shiny glittering and glistening golden feather. But we were not allowed to touch it. Still, in a flash, I swiped the golden feather on my hand. Suddenly, I got teleported to Egypt inside a yellow pyramid. There was a huge chamber and I felt extremely excited. The chamber had a very prikly and rough floor. I didn't hear noise except for the breeze coming from a small opening inside the chamber. On the yellow walls of the chamber there were lots of paintings decribing storeis of the Pharoahs. I touched the wall and it felt very soft. As I went a little bit further , there was a door. When I opened the door, I saw a golden tomb. I was thinking what would be inside the tomb. So I went closer, then I heard some strange noises coming from the tomb. Suddenly, there was a loud BANG! from inside the tomb. I ran helter skelter outside the pyramid to save myself.

I am an archaeologist. I came to Egypt to explore the pyramids. It is night. I stepped inside the pyramid. At the end of the pyramid I saw sarcophagus. I was very happy that I found it.
ReplyDeleteWell done Big Ben! We loved reading each other's mystery story introductions. I particularly enjoyed the description of spooky settings, the sound effects and description of senses and feelings. I can't wait to start writing mystery stories with you next week.
ReplyDeleteone day I did a spin but when I Did spin around I ended up in Egypt and I was a big dark and spooky room I was shocked but I saw a large shadow when I turned around and there was big scary and creepy man and pulled me through the door . And there was a sound BANG but I managed to escape

ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful night with a silver full moon in Egypt and I was walking towards the pyramid in Giza. When I saw a figure and it went right through the wall of the pyramid! I was so surprised that I nearly ran 10 meters all the way to the pyramid. I went through the entrance in a passage filled with hieroglyphics. I found a golden sarcophagus with Tutankhamun’s face and I saw the figure again. What if the figure was the ghost of Nefertari?
I was alone and lost in Egypt desert one evening.The sun set and night was getting darker and colder. The clouds in the sky uncovered the full moon.Suddenly i turned around when i heard the cry of the desert animal and what i saw was a huge pyramid and the statue of sphinx right in of me and staring at me.I was very scared so i ran inside pyramid only to be more terrified when a saw all the scary paintings on the wall and the mummy looked like she was calling me. I cried

I could not take it anymore as there no one for help, i fainted, then suddenly i heard my mum calling me very close to my face. She said 'Richa wake up, it's monday today and it's time to go to school'. Oh my God! it was a nice but scary dream.
Firstly, I was playing with my friends and one of my friends dad came and kicked the ball. Then I went to fetch it. After that, a dog chased me and I went inside a pyramid. I went inside the first room to hide. Then, I walked to the second room. Something was coming, I was so frightened. I thought it was a mummy. then I ran to the third room. then I realised it was not a mummy. then I saw a bed. in the bed, I saw a statue. The status was opening. then I saw a real mummy. Then ran to the second room. then I saw so many mammys. then I ran to the first room. Then I saw even more mammys so I ran outside and then I ran back to home
