For homework this week, I would like you to post six super sentences containing suspense.
When writing your sentences, remember to include the following techniques used in class:
- Short sentences to build up tension
- Ellipsis (…) to create the ‘what happens next?’ moment
- SHOW how the character felt (His heart pounded, sweat poured from his face.)
- Similes
- Dramatic openers (At that moment.....)
- Use the senses to describe, particularly SOUNDS!
You may use the following short openers as a starting point:
- Dougal spotted
- Dougal was sleeping
- In the distance…
- Dougal turned around…
- Dougal opened the door
- Cautiously, Dougal crept inside
Alternatively, you may wish to create suspense sentences about a completely different adventure! I'm already looking forward to reading your work.
It was a dark thundery night .Lightning filled the sky.As it died down rain took over it's place.Daisy(an abandoned kitten) fought between against the rain.She was wandering were she could hide but, from the corner of her eye she saw something that drew her attention.She could smell meaty breath coming her way....Was it, she froze with horror,staring at the creature.She could bear it no longer!She dived for a nearby tunnel and hid their crouching as still as stone.The creature came closer and closer but Daisy would not move a inch!Daisy couldn't stand it any more!Leaping out from

Wind howl hooooooo. Suddenly floorboard groaned like a menacing beast. THUD THUD THUD His hands shook sweat poured.
He could feel the eyes watching him from dark corners...
Dougal turned his back and lights went off..... he was frozen in the ground
Thud one step... Thud second step... Thud...something strolled toward him getting closer and closer...
At that moment ... Dougal spotted a ghost! Dougal was sleeping as hard as stone. In the distance he saw a...monster. Dougal turned around and said "hello". Dougal opened the door and said "bye". Cautiously Dougal crept inside the house.

It was a horrible dark stormy night. Dougal spotted a monster!!! Dougal ran as fast as lightning. He found a rock he could hide behind. Dougal waited and waited until the monster left or could it? The monster went for only a little time. But that was the only chance for him to escape. So he took it and ran and ran until he was far away from the monster. THE END

A tiger has escaped! It chased Jack. Jack sprinted like lightning back home so he was safe with his mum. Suddenly a terrifying roar filled the air, Jack saw the tiger coming towards the house! At that moment a spaceship landed on the tiger causing the tiger to tumble to the ground. Jack felt his heart pumping madly because he was relieved that the tiger was down. As the spaceship’s dome opened up Jack’s eyes opened wide as the mysterious creature said…

Was late midnight when suddenly he heard a banging sound coming from the front garden!
He walked in fear to the gate and opened it! There was ... nothing.
With shivers down his spine Tom slowly went back to the his house...The house was dark, no lights around.
His friends weren't there so he ran to bed. He fall asleep in tears and worries ... The next morning he heard a scratch! He went again to the gate and saw a big scratch like the claw of a bear ...and a little note. As he read it, he turned around and a strong pain coming from his head made him feel dizzy and fell to the ground.

- Dougal was sleeping, suddenly he wake up and he was frightened.
- In the distance, the creature was getting closer and closer to Dougal.
- Dougal didn't know what to do and his heart beats were so fast, but suddenly the monster turned around and get away from Dougal.
- When Dougal saw the monster getting away from him, he opened the door and run away as fast as he can towards the barn.
- Cautiously, Dougal crept inside the barn and suddenly he saw the monster there...
Once a place called Slender Town was an amazing place and lots of things lived there and now it is in ruins because of a war. None of the people survived but two. The people were called Happy Slender and Slender Fun,their destiny is to figure out who started the war and to rebuild the city. Suddenly... BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!and there came a grenade that fell out of nowhere,they both jumped away from the explosion. Their hearts pounded as quick as a lightning bolt, both of them looked up and they saw a big airship drifting in the sky and then it disappeared in thin air. The airship appeared again. What will they do about it? Scorpions were dropped in a bag and released so they were chasing both of them around. Slender Fun found a toy snake to scare the scorpions and he opened its head after the scorpions had gone, a shimmering golden key was laying down right in the very middle. The two brothers didn`t know it was a trap but it wasn`t really one because they had to get the key and escape since there would be some thing right behind them. They both just saw it coming towards them so they rapidly ran.How can they escape??? They found a place to hide and that place was a pyramid so when they hid inside the thing didn`t see them. Will it find them? they made a plan and the plan was to sneak past the growling creature when its not looking and escape. When the creature was looking around and sniffing for them,they tried to sneak past it but sadly it saw them and they had to make a run for it. The door was closing and the creature was catching up but them both made it just before it closed,the mysterious creature was stuck but it was banging on the door and doing a low pitched growl so they thought they were safe. Will they survive or will the mysterious creature find them again? There,their journey continues.

I really enjoyed reading these out in class today. It was good to identify all of the suspense techniques you used.

1)Dogal spotted a cat and the cat screamed as loud as it can and Dogal chased it.2)Dogal was sleeping and dreaming a bad one.Sunddenly....he woke up and he was petrified and his heart bumped rapidly.3) In the distance, Dogal saw a brilliant,beautiful and the best view of Spain.4) Dogal turned around and saw his friend Maddi who was a male dog and both of them were happy.5)Dogal opened the door and shivered but he said to himself "be brave!".6) Cautiously,Dogal crept inside the giant house and noticed that the giant was hungry and ready to eat him up.
ReplyDeleteIn cretaceous period there was a little cat called max he was alone he had nothing to do but he could have a little walk as she was walking on the darkened path she heard a SMASH!!!!she saw a flash of an emerald green eye the mystery monster vanished into the dark but it was not gone it was still waiting for him to max to walk up to it then in a blink of a eye it will gobble up max he did not move anywhere his heart was beating like mad then he jumped and tucked himself in a truck the beast had noticed that max was under the truck it came closer and closer he described it as a horrible dinosaur max could not stand it any more he jumped over the castle wall with a THUMP! he was safe or is he......
