What is your favourite poem? Mine is 'The Magic Box' by Kit Wright. You can read it below...

I love it because Kit Wright has described some truly wonderful things. Some of them only exist in the imagination and could never really be put in a box. He has used wonderful vocabulary to describe these images and you can really imagine what they would look, sound or feel like. I also love the way the poem sounds when you read it aloud. Especially the first line, 'the swish of a silk sari on a summer night.' The alliteration (repetition of the 's' sound) really helps it to slip off the tongue.

You may choose one of the following tasks:

1) Can you continue the poem? What would you put into the magic box? Write three verses that describe what you would put into the box.

2) What is your favourite poem? Choose your favourite poem and write it up neatly on paper. You may decorate it if you like. Can you also explain why you like it? Which are your favourite words, images or sentences?

Who left the time capsule????

Mr Goddard rushed into our classroom today to tell us that he had spotted something out on the grass! We all rushed out to have a look. Who do you think might have left it there?

For your Easter holiday homework you have the option to do one of the following:

Create a model of a Tudor house

You can use any materials you wish and then write a paragraph describing how you made it.

Research and design your own Tudor costume

Sketch your own Tudor costume. Label the different parts of the costume with its name, material and purpose.

 

 

 

We have not set spellings over Easter but, you do have Mathletics and reading as normal.

Taefl Board Game

This week we have been learning about the Anglo Saxons and also instruction writing. As part of this we have looked at a board game called 'Fox and Geese'. Your task this week is to write a set of instructions for how to play the game. We have learnt the rules and played the game in class so now you need to turn these into a set of written instructions. You can do this on the blog or on paper.

Next, you need to write a list of step by step instructions on how to turn the person into a frog.

Your homework this week is to write a paragraph for each picture, telling the tale what has happened to each person to make them react that way.

Try to use SHOW not tell sentences to imply how the person is feeling. Think about their facial expression, body language, what they may say and how they may say it.
